Discerning Our Future - Goals and Working Environment
These are the eight Goals proposed through the discernment process and the Working Environment recommended to help us accomplish all these goals as well as the many programs and ministries that we have at St. Paul's. The dinner meeting on October 4th was very successful. We had several people choose each of the eight goals as one of their top two priorities. People were engaged in the discussion groups and many good ideas were voiced. Stay tuned as we move into the implementation phase.
A lot of input went into each goal and it was a challenge to distill all the important and valuable points down to brief concise statements. It’s probably best to treat these statements as we would a passage from the bible. Read each carefully and try to unpack the meaning behind each portion of the statement. We don’t need to accomplish all that immediately but over the months and years to come as we choose to implement some or all of these goals. For now we should just try to understand the general purpose of each goal and decide which are most important to us.
So start by just reading each goal.
We also want to bring to your attention a Working Environment statement. Although this is not a goal specifically, we feel it is fundamental and crucial to the success in accomplishing the goals we are setting out.
We’ll all need to work together in an efficient and effective environment. We are a fairly large “Program” style church and it takes all of us working together in harmony to make our many programs and ministries successful.
Like the goal statements there is a lot packed into this statement so again it will take time to unpack all of its meaning.
