St. Paul’s partners with St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Chester Springs to create a shared youth ministry program that involves youth and adults from both congregations. Our most important emphasis is on building and nurturing healthy relationships between peers, caring adults, and of course, Christ. We do this through a variety of programs and activities that are social, service oriented, and faith formative in nature. All adults leaders who work with youth have background checks and training.

Unless otherwise noted, any 6-12 grader is welcome to participate in our activities; church membership is not required. Here are some of the opportunities currently offered:

-
MANIA! – Students in 6-8 grade that meets one Sunday each month for events such as game days, escape rooms, bowling, and the occasional service project.
-
OASIS – Students 9-12 grade, usually meeting the first and third Sundays of the month. This is an opportunity to relax and take a break from the stress of school, work, and other life activities as Jesus describes, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
-
Peer Ministry Leadership Training – An opportunity for high school youth to develop skills in active listening, helping others, and adopting an attitude of welcome toward the outsider with the parable of the Good Samaritan as a guide. After extensive training they take on leadership roles in their congregations and serve as a listening ear for peers who are struggling.
-
Retreats – Each age group has one or more opportunities to spend a weekend engaging in group building and activities around a central theme at a regional camp or conference center, sometimes with youth in the region.
-
Service Trips – Each summer we take several work crews of students 7-12 grade for a week with Appalachia Service Project to provide home repairs for families in need. Several single-day service opportunities are offered throughout the summer as well.
